If online window shopping counted as exercise..

If online window shopping counted as exercise:
1. I'd never have to watch what I eat again.
2. I would have so many Weight Watcher Activity Points per week!

To think, I spend more time researching and saving items in "My eBay" on eBay and "Favorites" on Etsy. Tell me I'm not alone! How many of us actually pull the trigger and buy our marked items? Most of the time I forget to bid or buy.. Then I end up kicking myself for not making the purchase! Recently I've lost several bids on some very chic items.. What do I do? Search and search to see if the items will magically appear again. They don't. I also imagine how grand the item would look with this outfit or that outfit. Too funny! I'm not talking about expensive items.. Many of the itmes are under $20.00. Moral of my story.. as Nike says, "Just do it!" If you see an item and start imagining outfits and going to events with that piece, go for it and buy it!

Lately I'm hooked on belts. I grew up in the 80's; my Mom and I had every belt style and color imaginable! It's so funny to see the exact same belts are popular again. Accessories at about.com has a great preview of Spring 2009 belts. http://accessories.about.com/od/belts/tp/belts-for-spring.htm These bring back memories. I'm very excited to see belts making a huge comeback! If only Mom and I stored all of our belts twenty years ago, we would have a huge modern/vintage collection!

Here are some of my favorites:

Have fun building your "new" belt collection for Spring 2009!

Saturday Shopping with the Family

Have you ever read a book or looked at a website and decided you have to go shopping?

Luckily, my younger son Chris (Junior) needs jeans. Old Navy is the place to go! I have been scouring the Old Navy website lately looking at all the new shoes, accessories, clothing.. WOW! This is NOT the same Old Navy since Todd Oldham's at the helm. I used to just take the kids (now teenagers) to shop there for basics.. Now, I'm hitting up my husband Chris (Senior) to go today. ;0)

I'm a GAP girl at heart. The assistant manager, Cody Hebert (shout out for GAP in Lake Charles, LA) , knows exactly what works for me and Chris. He ALWAYS has suggestions when we enter the store. A few weeks ago a customer returned two online GAP items in my size. Cody sees us enter the store and says, "These items have your name all over them! They were returned and no one has purchased them!" I walked away with a fantastic black jacket that's very Audrey Hepburn. 75% of my and Chris' wardrobe is GAP and 25% is Target. We both work in the technology industry which is very business casual. GAP fills in the gap (pun intended) quite nicely!

Love Banana Republic, but can't seem to plunk down the money for the clothing and accessories. Don't get me wrong.. I LOVE Banana Republic. Clothing fits me perfectly! Just can't justify spending $150.00 on a dress until it majorly goes on sale!
Last year I purchased (full price) their premium denim trousers in Canal Place, New Orleans. Okay, husband convinced me to splurge.. A year later, I have to find a seamstress to take them down a size. I looked at ebay to see what I could auction the premium denim for - HAH - about 1/3 of what I paid for them! I bet tailoring the trousers will be around the same price as what the auction would go for. Note to self.. find tailor.

I've already made plans for this Saturday Shopping Spree.

First, Rue 21 for a fab
faux pearl necklace which I *know* I will need to restring. It's strung on monofilament and looks cheap. I will restring the pearls on white/off-white silk cording or better yet - sheer ribbon for a more expensive look. Two weeks ago, my stylist Kaley Wyatt Hebert, received the necklace from fellow stylist Donna (shout out to Total Look Salon in Lake Charles, LA). Donna and I agreed the necklace immediately needs to be restrung to look "richer." The trendy large faux pearls are MUCH cheaper to purchase at Rue 21 instead of scouring the craft stores and online to find them. Truth is, if the necklace is NOT there, I will be bummed. Did I mention the necklace is only $7.99 at the most? Tried to find a pic on the Rue 21 site - no luck.

Secondly, Old Navy for an exotic aqua
faux snake print purse. It's on sale for $9.99. I've had 5 items in my Old Navy "bag" online for a few days.. I am so into instant gratification. I HOPE the items are in our local store.. I also noticed pearly necklaces online.

Okay, I have to go get dressed and out the door! I'll see what inexpensive goodies I come up with shopping in stores versus online.

Andrea

P.S. This blog idea is MUCH more fun than the work idea!
